Follow the Child started in 2009 as an animal sciences summer camp. The program now extends throughout the winter and includes language arts, history, culture, math as well as science.

The Program was developed by Mardena Williams and Amanda Taylor. Mardena Williams approach to education has been referred to as many things hands on, farm school, forest school, back to nature. She is a certified montessori and public school teacher and has given montessori and public education her own twist. Her approach is to use fun engaging real world applications for education whenever possible and now uses her proven and sound techniques to educate homeschool students and provide educational support to families across alaska.
